I’m flattered the first time Canon Philippines Big Boss Ramon Arteficio asked me to visit his office. Mr. Arteficio is an avid subscriber of my newsletters and yes, I was really excited. But just like the Globe thing, the company didn’t get me to speak not until their sales rally.
I think the best is always reserved for last. Or, at least I believe it now.
Second experience to remind me of this seminar: My staff was carrying a videocam and a camera with an imprint “Sony.” Imagine I’m attending a Canon event with Sony gadgets. The nest thing that happened? I heard from the big boss (and his executives agree), “Next time, we will not see you with that one.”
Translation: We are giving you free cameras and printers. Canon became my official printer and imaging partner after some months of negotiation.

Change management is my subject here. Canon had to go through this “motivational talk” because of their reorganization. I discussed several things about change. And one interesting point I gave them is that there’s only one way out of scarcity: To out there, accept reality as it is (not as it was or we wish it were), and blend your self anew.
