When Michael Jordan tried out in their high school basketball team, he was rejected by the coach saying he’s too small for the game. If we don’t love our work, it’s easy to complain and be cynical about things. If we love what we do, it may be difficult but we can find joy in difficulty.
It’s not your size in the game. It’s the size of the game in you.
In retrospect, people don’t really care much about our achievement. They rarely care if we make it or we don’t. But the way we made them feel is probably the only thing they will never forget.
Achievement is what you get when you become the best version of your self. But in life, it’s not about what you achieve. Rather, it’s about the lives of the people you touch.
The intention of every problem isn’t to punish us but to test us so that life would have a gauge on what we deserve to get from it.
In real life, the more problems you solve, the more successful you become.
When we recruit people, it’s not about getting someone to work for (or with) you. Recruitment isn’t a modern-day slavery. Recruitment requires mutual respect. The recruiter needs something that the recruit can provide. Treat the recruit with respect and the recruiter would get what it desires.
Recruitment isn’t only about getting people. It’s about helping people find a place where they can express who they are and what they can do.
Recruitment has something to do with shared mission, vision and responsibility. We don’t get people for our personal interest alone. We get them so everyone can get what they want easier and faster. When people can’t see themselves in your game plan and they don’t visualize clearly their place in your universe, they will find another place.
Retention is a clue on how well you care for the people and how clear your vision is for them. The higher the turnover, the less effective the recruiter.
People have a long-standing notion of insurance as something closely associated with death or accident. Somehow today, it’s changing and is now introduced as something that you can use to prepare for a better life through investments. In effect, agents don’t sell packages. They sell peace of mind bundled with a better life ahead.
Insurance business is a people business. It is more mental than it is physical.
Have a great working day ahead!
