First Monday of 2010 required people to come to school or work or business. Well, I was required to do something else: Accepted DZMM’s invitation to be their live studio guest for Talakan, a radio talk show anchored by Director Manny Castaneda and Ahwel Paz.
I arrived at ABS-CBN Compound at around 12:30 p.m. At the gate, I witnessed a mother looking for his lost child during fireworks display in Manila. When the security guard confirmed the child is there, the mother cried real loud. I waited patiently for my turn. This mother, I told myself, needs greater attention than me.
After less than 15 minutes, I was in, got to studio, had some makeup stuff, and entered the studio booth. The anchors were waiting for me.
I was there by an invitation and I thanked them for considering me an expert on career development. Special mention is given to Zhander Cayabyab (also a PUP graduate). The topic? How to Manage Your Career in 2010.
Ahmel made a very short but powerful introduction as Direk Manny held my books and showed in close-up on TV screen. We were in a hurry so we got to the bottom of why I was there in the first place: To give some tips on how people can take charge of their own career.
I only gave three tips. One, to be clear about what they want. Two, to develop all necessary skills to get what they want. Three, to listen to their own little voice and never lose their own identity.
