BEFORE YOU SEND US AN INQUIRY, WE’D LIKE YOU TO KNOW…
Don’t let anyone tell you, you can’t because you know who you are and what you can do better than anybody else.
At 3am of May 12, 1982, I first saw the light. The same light I’ll last see when I’m done. I grew up in a suburb town of Gumaca in Quezon Province. My mother is a retired primary school teacher and my father is a tricycle driver. Unlike those fortunate kids that we see around, my childhood was more of the opposite. Because we didn’t have enough money, I spent all my life studying in public schools. I can’t buy my own toys. I only had enough to survive.
Just like many people, I dreamed of raising my family up from the gutter, determined to do everything to change the course of my life direction even it means surrendering the one thing I loved the most: writing.Because I thought money is the most important thing, instead of taking mass communication in college, I took Electronics and Communications Engineering in Polytechnic University of the Philippines.
Years later, I realized that I get all my income from the very thing I’ve given up for money.
In 2005, I accidentally started my own business because not even one single publishing company would accept to print my manuscript. I wrote my first book in the same year and did everything I could to publish it on my own. It meant long days and nights of hard work, skipping meals and saving every penny I could.
Seven years later, I would see my self running some businesses, which aims to help people find their way to their calling.
LLOYDLUNA Communications is a business consultancy firm specializing on Internet marketing, Monday is a personal and professional development training company, Peaches and Cream is a string quartet group, Campus Paper is a newspaper publishing organization, and Payday is a financial wellness brand. As a motivational speaker and trainer, I’ve spoken to more than half a million people not only in the Philippines. I’ve inspired and motivated people from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Brunei, South Korea, and United Arab Emirates.
It’s a humbling experience when you just hear people taking a brand new direction because in one way or another, you’ve inspired them to do so.
Oh, I’m always thrilled and equally privileged whenever I appear and grant media interviews. I think while it’s helping my businesses, it also helps those who watch my appearances on television, listen to me on the radio, and read my insights on newspapers, magazines, and websites.
I dreamed of having my own talk show. Three years ago, I started hosting Creative Business on Global News Network. Three years later, I’ve done more than over 200 interviews and I don’t really mind doing 1,000 more.
The business of personal development is often tricky. However, believe it or not, it can start from a simple act of opening a book, browsing some pages, until you get an appetite to read it. Two books: The Alchemist and How To Get Rich awakened the author in me in 2005. Now, I’ve written nine books. I have some more in the works.
Writing for me isn’t a way to make money, although it gives me some cash for groceries and occasional coffee at Starbucks. It’s my way of sharing to people what I’ve learned, both the easy and the hard way. To be read by people who have very little hopes, uninspired to pursue their dreams, and skeptical about the promise of a great future, is rewarding. I find it amazing how a single sentence, or page or chapter can turn someone’s life around. That, for me, is a true miracle.
As a musician, music is another language that I use to express my self. In the last 13 years, I’ve served our church as a musical choral director. In 2012, I built a Peaches and Cream String Quartet because I want people to draw inspiration from my music. Year 2013 unveils my very first CD album and choral book.
I’ve given a rare privilege to help some reputable organizations here and abroad. Sometimes, I still can’t believe it when I look back to see the number of companies who entrusted their event to me. The temptation is always there but I can’t be complacent because I know I’m only as good as my last performance.
And then people often ask me, “What’s my secret to success? Where do I get my energy? What makes me awake at night? What makes me want to wake up early in the morning? What keeps me on my top shape? How do I do these things altogether?”
Well, I understand the magnitude of challenges we all have to face day in and day out. This world demands us to do more in less time. Many of us just live our lives trying to make ends meet. Sadly, the world we live in asks us to be someone who we are not. It shapes us to become the very person we never dreamed or imagine of becoming. It has dictated the way we live our lives and it has made us believe that there are things that are simply impossible to achieve.
And so many times, we end up losing, frustrated and disappointed.
Well, I’m here to deliver the news. The world has told us many lies about who we are and what we can do. And yes, in many ways, the world has succeeded in putting fears, hatred, sorrow in our hearts. In the process, we all the more cast doubt in our own ability to create miracles in our lives. We surrender our resolve to fight a good fight. We find more questions than answers.
So, if you’re asking me, all my answers could only lead me back to God, he source of everything I am, everything I have, and everything I can still become.
You, too, can find the answer.
